'LEARNING I.T IS FUN' - A MILESTONE OF INFOSOFT AND THE ROTARY CLUB OF GREENHILLS
“This is really a great tool for our students here in Nicanor Ibuna Elementary School to gain more knowledge about Information Technology. Our students are not only learning but at the same time they enjoyed a lot with the interactive approach and materials prepared by the Infosoft Teacher Volunteers and the Rotary Club of Greenhills.” – Mrs. Hernanda Santos, Principal, Nicanor Ibuna ES.

"Learning IT” is a venture of Infosoft International Solutions Inc. and the Rotary Club of Greenhills that aspired to sustain knowledge about Information Technology amongst the Grades 5 and 6 students of Nicanor Ibuna Elementary School. This eight week session every Saturday aims to provide an overview about the computer and its functions, to educate kids while having fun during the hands on training, to build the dream of the future executives of the new generation and to create camaraderie amongst Infosoft employee volunteers, school administrators and the Rotary club of Greenhills.
November 21, 2009 marks the beginning of this program. Fifteen (15) selected students from Nicanor Ibuna Elementary School in San Juan were chosen to be the heart of this activity. This was headed by Infosoft’s CEO and President, Mr. Joris Spanjoff and Mr. Ignacio Enriquez of the Rotary Club of Greenhills. Different lessons were prepared that focuses on Information Technology as a whole.
On its 1st week session, an overview about the “History of the Computer” was discussed packed with a getting to know you game to introduce one’s self in a fun and exciting way. It was followed by the “Basic Parts of the Computer” subject on the 2nd week session wherein the students were able to know the main, sub and internal parts of the computer. During the 3rd week session, “Operating a Computer as an Appliance” was set off. The students find out how to turn the computer on and off added with tips on how to take care of the computer and some safety measures. Kids go further as “Windows Applications” was initiated as they finish almost half of the learning program during the 4th week session. At this point, the operating system, applications, programs, and viruses were added as they continue to discover the whole learning program.
Almost half of the learning program was completed and the students level up to hands on training on the succeeding weeks. “Microsoft Office” was featured throughout the 5th week session. MS word, excel and powerpoint were explored by the students. Heading towards the 6th week session, the students gain knowledge of the “Use of Internet, email and MS paint.” They get to surf the internet and navigate the search engines, create their own email account and form images using the MS Paint. It’s time to “Build the Dream” as different IT professions were revealed to the students on the 7th session. The students take part on a picture perfect activity that helps them reflect on the I.T opportunities waiting for them once they graduated.
“Learning IT” reached the graduation day last January 23, 2010. Attended by the students with their parents, school principal, Infosoft teacher volunteers and the Rotary Club of Greenhills, indeed this was a great way to initially close the program. The school principal of Nicanor Ibuna Elementary School acknowledge the efforts that were exerted for the school and quote that “This was just the beginning of an endearing partnership with Infosoft and the Rotary Club of Greenhills”. Mr. Joris Spanhoff gave a short inspirational message for the students and extends his gratitude to the Infosoft teacher volunteers in making this program a big success. An awarding program was headed by Ms. Veigh Hernandez, the HR and Administrative Supervisor of Infosoft to reward the students who showcased their exceptional participation in the program.
“There is nothing great than a heart of a volunteer” as mentioned by Morris Perdon of Infosoft. This program did not only educate the students but also strengthen the bond of the Infosoft employees. “Learn IT” also taught them how to work as a team with a common goal and create a spirit of amity and volunteerism.
